What CH10 means
CH10 has two possible meanings depending on your LG model. On most residential split units, it indicates the indoor fan motor has stopped spinning or is not sending a speed-feedback signal. On some commercial or older models, it flags a discharge thermistor reading above 130 °C.
The LED on the indoor unit blinks 10 times to confirm this code. The indoor unit will continue to display the error but may attempt to keep running intermittently.
Do not ignore CH10. A locked fan motor can overheat and, in rare cases, pose a fire risk. Running the compressor without indoor airflow freezes the evaporator.
How to fix it
- Power off at the breaker.
- Open the indoor unit and visually inspect the blower wheel (cross-flow fan). Try spinning it by hand — it should turn freely with minimal resistance.
- Clear any blockage. Dust buildup, a loose filter, or a foreign object can jam the wheel.
- Check the motor connector at the PCB — reseat it firmly.
- Test the motor. If the wheel spins freely but the motor does not start when powered, the motor is dead and needs replacement.
- Replace the motor with a genuine LG part matching your model. DC brushless motors (inverter models) and AC motors (non-inverter) are not interchangeable.
