A loose terminal screw, reversed wire polarity, damaged cable, or a third-party device (condensate pump, timer) wired into the communication cable can all disrupt the signal. Voltage fluctuations during load-shedding can also cause temporary communication loss.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Power off both units at their respective breakers. Wait 5 minutes.
  2. Check the communication cable at the indoor terminal block. Open the indoor unit's side cover and verify each wire is in the correct terminal (match the labels) and tightened securely.
  3. Check the outdoor terminal block. Same check at the outdoor unit.
  4. Remove any external devices wired to the cable — condensate pumps, smart controllers, timers. Test without them.
  5. Inspect the cable run. Look for cuts, kinks, or rodent damage. Replace the cable if damaged.
  6. Power on and wait 5 minutes. If E1 clears, the cause was a loose connection.
  7. If E1 persists — call Singer service (09678-300300). One of the PCBs may be faulty.
