What E1 means on a Walton AC
Walton split and inverter ACs use a communication cable to exchange data between the indoor and outdoor units. E1 appears when this data link is broken — typically within a few minutes of powering on. The indoor unit's LED will blink four times to confirm the code on most models.
This is the most common Walton AC error code in Bangladesh, and in the vast majority of cases it is a wiring issue — not a board failure.
Note: Walton's Inverna, ACC, and Marline series all use the same E1 code for communication faults.
Common causes
The cable connecting the indoor and outdoor units carries both power and a data signal. A loose terminal screw, reversed polarity, damaged cable, or a third-party device (condensate pump, timer) on the cable can all disrupt the signal.
Step-by-step fix
- Power off both units at their respective breakers.
- Check the communication cable at the indoor terminal block. Open the indoor unit's side panel and verify each wire is in the correct terminal and tightened securely.
- Check the outdoor terminal block. Open the outdoor unit's electrical cover and do the same.
- Remove any external devices wired to the communication cable — condensate pumps, timers, or smart controllers. Test without them.
- Inspect the cable run. Look for cuts, kinks, or rodent damage. Replace the cable if damaged.
- Power on and wait 5 minutes. If E1 clears, the cause was a loose connection. If it persists, one of the PCBs may be faulty — call Walton service (1800-345-1234 or your nearest Walton Plaza).
Bangladesh tip: If E1 appeared after a voltage fluctuation or power cut, try a full power cycle (breaker off for 10 minutes). Voltage instability is common and can temporarily disrupt communication.
