LG AC CH41 Error — Discharge Thermistor Sensor Fault & Fix
CH41
LG · Air ConditionerCH41 means the inverter compressor discharge temperature sensor (thermistor) on the outdoo…
Quick answer
CH41 means the inverter compressor discharge temperature sensor (thermistor) on the outdoor unit is faulty — open or short circuit.
What CH41 means
The discharge thermistor monitors the hot gas temperature leaving the compressor. CH41 means the sensor itself has failed electrically (open or short circuit), so the board cannot monitor compressor health. This is different from CH32, which means the temperature is too high but the sensor is working.
How to fix it
What does the CH41 code mean?
CH41 is a compressor discharge thermistor fault (open/short circuit). The sensor has failed electrically — distinct from CH32 which indicates overtemperature.
Common causes
- Failed discharge thermistor (open-circuit or short-circuit)
- Loose connector on the outdoor PCB
- Wire damage from compressor heat
- Outdoor PCB fault (rare)

How to fix the CH41 error
Power off
Isolate at the breaker and let the compressor cool (at least 15 minutes).
Locate the sensor
The discharge thermistor is clamped to the compressor discharge pipe — the hottest pipe.
Check for heat damage
The wire insulation may have melted from proximity to the hot pipe.
Reseat the connector
Unplug and re-plug at the outdoor PCB.
Measure resistance
Replace if outside normal range.
Replace with genuine LG part
Route the wire away from the hottest parts of the compressor.
Safety first: The compressor discharge pipe can exceed 100 degrees C. Wait for complete cooling before handling.
Part you may need: Compressor discharge temperature sensor (NTC thermistor)
When replacing, use high-temperature cable ties to secure the wire away from the discharge pipe.
Frequently asked questions
CH41 vs CH32?
CH41 = sensor has failed (electrical fault). CH32 = sensor is working but temperature is too high (operating condition). Different causes, different fixes.
Can I run the AC without the discharge sensor?
No — the board will not start the compressor without valid discharge temperature feedback.
