What E3 means

The float switch sits in the indoor unit's drain pan. When water rises above the safe level, the float trips and the E3 code appears. The AC shuts down to prevent water from overflowing into your wall or ceiling.

Good news: E3 is almost always a blocked drain, not a parts failure. A simple clean usually fixes it.

How to fix it

Clear the blockage, test the float, and the unit should restart normally.
