What E122 means
The evaporator-inlet (EVA IN) sensor monitors the refrigerant temperature as it enters the indoor coil. A faulty reading (open or short) triggers E122 and stops the compressor to prevent freeze-up or poor cooling.
How to fix it
This sensor is clipped directly onto the evaporator pipe inside the indoor unit.
What does the E122 code mean?
E122 is an evaporator-inlet pipe temperature sensor error. The thermistor is reading open-circuit or short-circuit.
Common causes
- Defective pipe thermistor
- Corrosion or loose plug at the PCB connector
- Sensor displaced from the pipe (not making contact)
- Wiring damage

How to fix the E122 error
Isolate power
Switch off the breaker.
Open the indoor unit
Remove the cover to access the evaporator.
Find the EVA IN sensor
It is a small probe clipped to the inlet pipe of the evaporator, connected via a two-wire harness to the PCB.
Reseat the connector
Unplug and re-plug firmly.
Measure resistance
Expect around 10 kΩ at 25°C. Replace if open or shorted.
Ensure good pipe contact
The sensor must be firmly clipped to the pipe with thermal paste or tape for an accurate reading.
Safety first: Evaporator fins are sharp. Wear gloves and do not bend the fins.
