What E1 means
The E1 code is LG's overfill protection. The flow switch detected an abnormal water level — either the tub overfilled, or water leaked into the base pan and tripped the float switch. On some LG models, E1 replaces or accompanies the AE and FE codes.
The dishwasher will automatically drain to protect your kitchen floor.
How to fix it
- Turn off the water supply under the sink.
- Unplug the dishwasher.
- Check for standing water. Open the door and look inside the tub. Also check underneath the machine for pooled water.
- Check the detergent. Regular dish soap (not dishwasher detergent) creates massive foam that overwhelms the water level sensor.
- Check the door gasket. Ensure a clean, tight seal with no tears or debris.
- Dry the base pan. Carefully tilt the machine back slightly to drain any water from the base. Let it air dry.
- Check hose connections. Tighten fill and drain hose fittings.
- Restore power and test.
