What E5 means

How to fix it
- Unplug for 10 minutes. A temporary motor glitch may clear with a reset.
- Locate the damper. It is usually at the top-rear of the fridge compartment, behind a small panel or air duct cover.
- Listen for the motor. When you change the fridge temperature setting, you should hear a faint motor sound as the damper opens or closes. Silence = motor failure.
- Check for ice. If frost has formed around the damper, it may be physically stuck. Defrost the area.
- Check the motor connector. Reseat it on the PCB.
- Replace the damper assembly if the motor is dead. This is typically a single unit (motor + flap).
