Haier Refrigerator F2 Error — Freezer Temperature Sensor Fault & Fix

Quick answer
F2 on a Haier refrigerator means the freezer compartment temperature sensor (thermistor) has an open or short circuit.
What F2 means
The freezer sensor monitors the temperature inside the freezer compartment. When it fails, the board cannot properly control the compressor for the freezer — food may thaw or the compressor may run continuously.
How to fix it
- Unplug for 10 minutes.
- Locate the freezer sensor. Usually near the top of the freezer compartment, behind a small cover or clipped to the wall.
- Reseat the connector.
- Test resistance. At room temperature (25 degrees C), approximately 5-10 kOhm. At -18 degrees C (normal freezer temp), much higher. Replace if open or zero.
- Replace with matching part.
What does the F2 code mean?
F2 indicates the freezer compartment temperature sensor has an open or short circuit.
Common causes
- Failed freezer thermistor
- Loose connector on the main PCB
- Damaged sensor wiring (pinched by shelf or panel)
- Main PCB sensor circuit fault (rare)

How to fix the F2 error
Unplug for 10 minutes
Reset attempt.
Locate freezer sensor
Near top of freezer compartment.
Reseat connector
At the main PCB.
Test resistance
5-10 kOhm at 25 degrees C. Replace if open or zero.
Replace
Match to your Haier model.
Safety first: Wear gloves when working inside the freezer — frostbite risk.
Part you may need: Freezer temperature sensor (NTC thermistor)
The freezer sensor is exposed to extreme cold. It degrades faster than the fridge sensor.
Frequently asked questions
F2 and freezer not freezing?
The board cannot control the compressor without freezer temperature data — food safety is at risk.
Can I swap the fridge and freezer sensors?
Only if they are the same part number. Check before swapping.
